Sheepskin Wool: The Miracle Fibre

Why You Should Care about Wool
Most people are unaware that our skin needs to breathe.
Synthetic fibres trap moisture in the body, leading to the growth of bacteria that can cause irritation or illness. Yuck!
Wool, on the other hand, can hold 30-40% of its weight in moisture, leaving the skin refreshed and oxygenated.
This is just one example of the many healing benefits of this incredible fibre.
Not only is wool a comforting and warm material, it also has natural healing properties that are of great benefit for everyone - from tiny, newborns to patients near the end of life - wool compassionately wraps our most vulnerable in tender, loving care.
Wool has something to offer everyone. From traditional wool blankets and slippers, to yoga mat liners, made with organic, 100% Australian Merino Wool and bicycle covers, custom-made to order, wool is a contemporary choice for those seeking comfort, sustainability, and healing.
You’ll feel incredibly comforted and protected wrapped in wool, all thanks to the benefits of this incredible fibre!

Three Cool Facts about Wool
Wool Is Good for Your Skin
Did you know that our bodies are 55%-75% water? Wool is a natural body moisture regulator. Studies show we lose approximately 1 litre of moisture a night (2oz. of vapor moisture per hour). Wool is the only natural fibre that can absorb up to 1/3 of its weight in moisture AND disperse it, keeping our body dry. Wool’s hollow fibres promote air circulation and prevent bacterial growth. Bacteria can only grow in moisture; wool‘s natural fibre wicks moisture away from the skin preventing the conditions that allow bacteria to thrive.
At Soul Comfort we have so many options for your sleep needs in our sleep collection of products.
Wool Helps You Sleep
Studies show that Sheep’s Wool is a natural insulator, keeping our bodies at a perfect constant body temperature of 37°C/98.6°F. This means wool not only keeps us warm, but it keeps us from getting too warm! So it’s perfect for all seasons. The air confined within wool fibre acts as an insulator, keeping you cozy in winter and cool in summer. Maintaining a consistent body temperature of 98.6°F has a host of benefits such as promoting blood circulation and lowering our heart rate, offering a deep, uninterrupted sleep.
Our customers have reported that our wool comfort pads have literally helped them sleep through the night after years of struggle! Made of the highest quality Merino Sheep’s Wool-pile fabric and available in three different health-densities for your health needs.

The coiled spring-like tubular structure of wool fibre allows it to bend up to 20,000 times before breaking. What does this mean? Wool’s flexibility provides gentle flexible support and pressure relief while preventing shearing. For those in hospital, wool is the perfect solution for bedsores. Wool reduces patient healing time and increases comfort and well being. Don’t wait to use the incredible healing powers of wool!
*Case studies show that wool bedcovers can be as effective at treating bedsores as costly airbeds used in hospitals, and are much more affordable. The first signs of the skin reddening is an indication of lack of blood supply to the area of the body and then skin breakdown happens within a few days. Wool will prevent this breakdown.
