The Comfort Pads

Sheep's Wool regulates body temperature to 37 degrees Celsius. Wool has body heat and keeps your body warm all night, keeping your muscles soft so your body is not stiff in the morning. You can use your energy to regenerate and heal, which is what sleep is all about.

Sheep's Wool is highly moisture-absorbent. It absorbs 30-40% of its weight in moisture and releases it into the air. If synthetics surround you, your body will become damp, and your skin will be vulnerable. Lying in humidity creates the perfect environment for skin to break down and for bacteria to thrive. 

Sheep's Wool is anti-microbial and anti-bacterial. Our high-density sheep's wool offers pressure redistribution, offloading, and bed sore prevention.  If an area of the body is reddened, you usually have a window of 24-36 hours before skin breakdown. Medical Comfort Pads are necessary for anyone concerned about bedsore prevention and overall comfort. Made with medical sheep's wool, this cushion helps maintain core body temperature while providing antimicrobial and moisture absorption properties. Washable up to 70 degrees Celsius if seepage occurs; otherwise, lukewarm water is best with our Eucalan  (lanolin base soap). Hanging them to dry is preferred, but you can put them in the dryer. Only dry up to 85 %. Wool loves moisture. If you over-dry the sheep wool overlay, it may knob to the point that with brushing, it may not come out.

HEALTH DENSITIES:

• White 850 GRAM - 1" wool pile; suitable for everyday use and/or patients without any skin breakdown

• White 950 GRAM - 1/2" wool pile is interwoven with 1" wool pile (exclusive to Soul Comfort); suitable for everyday use, patients who have had skin breakdown, and/or palliative care

• Green XD1750 - 1/2" wool-pile interwoven with 1" wool-pile (exclusive to Soul Comfort); ideal for incontinence solutions, suitable for everyday use, patients who have had skin breakdown, and/or palliative care

Our comfort mats are crafted from sheep wool fabric:

• 100% sheep wool fiber knitted into a nylon grid and stabilized with an acrylic compound for washability and durability. The sheep wool is natural white wool. The benefit of wool for the body lies in the wool fiber, not the hide.
  • * Why is there a nylon grid? Is it similar to the carpet kits we made as kids? It maintains its shape better than cotton and wool; it doesn't fray and is durable. Nylon is commonly blended with wool in socks for added strength. The sheep are shorn repeatedly, and since nylon is renewable and sustainable, it complements the wool well. The acrylic polymer solution was created in Germany, a country with high standards for full machine washability. It has been used in the drapery industry for decades, and no allergies have been reported; it is a most favorable combination with sheep wool fabric. The gift to the body is in the wool fiber and is the surface the body lays on. This way, we get to enjoy the properties of the wool fiber, the sheep get shorn and keep their life, and we meet infection control standards,
