Wool Baby Blankets

Warmth That Breathes. Comfort That Calms. A Heritage You Can Feel.

Our Soul Comfort Wool Baby Blankets are woven from ethically sourced, premium‑grade wool chosen for its softness, breathability, and natural ability to keep your baby warm without overheating. Wool is nature’s most intelligent fibre, it responds to your baby’s body, insulating when they need warmth and releasing heat when they don’t.

Unlike synthetics that trap heat or cotton that loses warmth quickly, wool creates a stable, womb‑like environment that supports newborn physiology and helps babies settle more easily.

These are the blankets families reach for again and again, for naps, stroller walks, car rides, and quiet moments of connection. They’re heirloom pieces meant to be loved, washed, passed down, and remembered.

Wrap your baby in the warmth nature intended.

Why Wool Is the Best Material for Newborn Sleep

The Science Behind the Comfort

Wool naturally recreates the sensory environment of the womb:

  • Temperature regulation- keeps babies near their natural 37°C

  • Moisture balance- absorbs and releases moisture to prevent dampness

  • Core‑warming support- helps ease gas and promote digestion

  • Breathability- prevents overheating better than cotton or synthetics

  • Scent retention- helps babies settle with the smell of their parents

Wool is also naturally resistant to bacteria, mould, and fungus, creating a clean, hygienic sleep surface for delicate newborn skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is wool safe for newborns? Yes. Wool is naturally flame‑resistant, breathable, and temperature‑regulating, no chemicals needed.

Will my baby overheat? No. Wool prevents overheating better than cotton or synthetics.

General Care

  • Expect light shedding at first, this is normal

  • Air‑fluff in the dryer (no heat) for 5 minutes to remove loose fibres

  • Keep away from high heat and direct sunlight

  • Wool may “clump” over time, this does not affect performance

  • Brush with a metal brush after laundering if you prefer a fluffier look

Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash on delicate in cool/lukewarm water (up to 70°C)

  • Use wool soap with lanolin (e.g., Eucalan)

  • Air dry or tumble with NO heat

  • Remove from dryer at 85% dry

  • Spot clean with warm water (up to 70°C) and Eucalan

  • Do not bleach

Wool is naturally antimicrobial and does not require frequent washing. To freshen, hang outside in moist air (out of sunlight); the wool will release moisture and self‑refresh.

100% Natural

Wool is a completely natural fiber, produced year-round by over 68 million sheep in Australia. These sheep thrive on a simple diet of grass, water, fresh air, and sunshine.

Biodegradable

Once wool fibers are discarded, they naturally break down in soil within a few years, gradually returning beneficial nutrients to the ground.

Naturally Breathable

Merino wool is highly breathable, with fibers that can absorb significant amounts of moisture vapor and release it into the air through evaporation.

Wrinkle Resistant

On a microscopic scale, each Merino wool fiber acts like a tiny spring, bouncing back to its original shape after being bent. This natural elasticity helps Merino garments resist wrinkling.

100% Renewable

Australian sheep grow a new fleece annually, making wool a fully renewable natural fiber.
