Open Foot Protector

Soft protection, moisture control, and gentle off‑loading for fragile feet

Our Open Foot Protector is designed to cradle and protect the foot when the skin is thin, red, healing, or recovering from surgery. Made from 1-inch medical‑density Merino sheep’s wool fabric, it provides natural warmth, moisture control, and cushioning,  all essential for maintaining healthy skin and comfort.

Sheep’s wool naturally regulates temperature, helping muscles stay relaxed and reducing morning stiffness. It also absorbs 30–40% of its weight in moisture, keeping the skin dry and preventing the dampness that leads to irritation, redness, and bacterial growth. Its antimicrobial properties make it an excellent choice for individuals with fragile skin or limited mobility.

This protector gently off‑loads pressure from the heel and toes, increasing circulation and reducing the risk of pressure sores. With a wide opening and two Velcro straps, it’s easy to put on and remove, ideal for caregivers and for those who need a soft, breathable alternative to synthetic materials.

What Is Sheep Wool Fabric?

Our wool fabric is made from:

  • real wool fibres (sheared from the sheep)

  • a soft nylon grid

  • a medical‑grade acrylic stabilizer

This creates a plush, breathable material that looks like sheepskin but without the hide, making it durable, washable, and ideal for medical use.

Care Instructions

  • Machine wash on delicate in cool/lukewarm water (up to 70°C)

  • Use wool soap with lanolin (e.g., Eucalan)

  • Air dry or tumble with no heat

  • Remove from dryer at about 85% dry

  • Spot clean with warm water and disinfecting soap

  • Avoid bleach, high heat, and direct sunlight

Wool is naturally antimicrobial and doesn’t require frequent washing.

100% Natural

Wool is a completely natural fiber, produced year-round by over 68 million sheep in Australia. These sheep thrive on a simple diet of grass, water, fresh air, and sunshine.

Biodegradable

Once wool fibers are discarded, they naturally break down in soil within a few years, gradually returning beneficial nutrients to the ground.

Naturally Breathable

Merino wool is highly breathable, with fibers that can absorb significant amounts of moisture vapor and release it into the air through evaporation.

Wrinkle Resistant

On a microscopic scale, each Merino wool fiber acts like a tiny spring, bouncing back to its original shape after being bent. This natural elasticity helps Merino garments resist wrinkling.

100% Renewable

Australian sheep grow a new fleece annually, making wool a fully renewable natural fiber.
