Open Foot Protector — Soft, Breathable Medical/Therapeutic Wool Support

1" Medical‑Density Wool • Moisture Control • Pressure Relief • Ideal for Fragile Skin

The Open Foot Protector provides soft protection, moisture control, and gentle off‑loading for fragile feet. Designed for individuals with thin, red, swollen, or healing skin, especially post‑surgery or during periods of limited mobility,  it cradles the foot in breathable warmth and plush cushioning. Made from 1‑inch medical‑density Merino wool, it delivers the same clinically trusted benefits found in our medical sheepskin and therapeutic wool products.

Sheep wool naturally regulates temperature, helping muscles stay relaxed and reducing morning stiffness. As moisture‑wicking medical wool, it absorbs 30–40% of its weight in moisture and releases it into the air, preventing dampness, irritation, redness, and bacterial growth. Its antimicrobial properties make it an excellent choice for fragile skin and pressure‑sensitive areas.

This protector gently off‑loads pressure from the heel and toes, increases circulation, and reduces the risk of pressure sores. With a wide opening and two Velcro straps, it’s easy to put on and remove,  ideal for caregivers and for individuals who need a soft, breathable alternative to synthetic materials.

What Is Sheep Wool Fabric?

Our wool fabric is made from:

  • Real wool fibres (sheared from the sheep)

  • A soft nylon grid

  • A medical‑grade acrylic stabilizer

This creates a plush, breathable material that looks like sheepskin, but without the hide, making it durable, washable, and ideal for medical use. It is the same construction used in our sheepskin medical overlay and sheep wool medical products.

Care Instructions

  • Machine wash on delicate in cool/lukewarm water (up to 70°C)

100% Natural

Wool is a completely natural fiber, produced year-round by over 68 million sheep in Australia. These sheep thrive on a simple diet of grass, water, fresh air, and sunshine.

Biodegradable

Once wool fibers are discarded, they naturally break down in soil within a few years, gradually returning beneficial nutrients to the ground.

Naturally Breathable

Merino wool is highly breathable, with fibers that can absorb significant amounts of moisture vapor and release it into the air through evaporation.

Wrinkle Resistant

On a microscopic scale, each Merino wool fiber acts like a tiny spring, bouncing back to its original shape after being bent. This natural elasticity helps Merino garments resist wrinkling.

100% Renewable

Australian sheep grow a new fleece annually, making wool a fully renewable natural fiber.
