Open Knee‑High Protector — Medical/Therapeutic Wool Off‑Loading

Full‑Length Protection • 1" Medical‑Density Wool • Breathable & Temperature‑Regulating

The Open Knee‑High Protector provides breathable protection, warmth, and gentle off‑loading for vulnerable legs and feet. Made from 1" medical‑density Merino wool fabric, this protector delivers the same clinically trusted benefits found in our medical sheepskin and therapeutic wool products, without the hide.

Designed to support fragile, reddened, swollen, or post‑surgical skin, the protector offers natural cushioning and pressure redistribution. It is widely used in long‑term care wool products programs, home‑care settings, and rehabilitation environments where comfort and skin integrity are essential.

Sheep’s wool naturally regulates body temperature, helping muscles stay warm and relaxed. As moisture‑wicking medical wool, it absorbs up to 30–40% of its weight in moisture and releases it into the air, preventing dampness, irritation, and bacterial growth. These properties make it ideal for individuals with limited mobility or wool for fragile skin needs.

The protector opens fully and secures with four wide Velcro straps, making it easy to put on and remove. Outside seams prevent rubbing and chafing, ensuring maximum comfort for sensitive legs and feet.

What Is Sheep Wool Fabric?

Our wool fabric is made from:

  • Real wool fibres (sheared from the sheep)

  • A soft nylon grid

  • A medical‑grade acrylic stabilizer

This creates a plush, breathable material that looks like sheepskin but without the hide, making it durable, washable, and ideal for medical and palliative care use. It is the same construction used in our sheepskin medical overlay and sheep wool medical products.

100% Natural

Wool is a completely natural fiber, produced year-round by over 68 million sheep in Australia. These sheep thrive on a simple diet of grass, water, fresh air, and sunshine.

Biodegradable

Once wool fibers are discarded, they naturally break down in soil within a few years, gradually returning beneficial nutrients to the ground.

Naturally Breathable

Merino wool is highly breathable, with fibers that can absorb significant amounts of moisture vapor and release it into the air through evaporation.

Wrinkle Resistant

On a microscopic scale, each Merino wool fiber acts like a tiny spring, bouncing back to its original shape after being bent. This natural elasticity helps Merino garments resist wrinkling.

100% Renewable

Australian sheep grow a new fleece annually, making wool a fully renewable natural fiber.
