ABOUT OUR WOOL FABRIC:
100% Australian sheep's wool fiber is knitted into a nylon grid and stabilized with an acrylic compound. The sheep wool is natural white wool. The benefit of wool for the body lies in the wool fiber, not the hide.
Why is there a nylon grid? It is similar to the carpet kits we made as kids. It maintains shape better than cotton and wool; it doesn't fray and is durable. Nylon is commonly blended with wool in socks for added strength. The sheep are shorn repeatedly, and since nylon is renewable and sustainable, it complements wool well. The acrylic polymer solution was created in Germany, a country with high standards for full machine washability. It has been used in the drapery industry for decades, and no allergies have been reported; it is a most favorable combination with sheep wool fabric. The gift to the body is in the wool fiber and is the surface the body lays on. This way, we get to enjoy the properties of the wool fiber, the sheep get shorn and keep their life, and we meet infection control standards.
What is the difference between sheepskin and sheep wool?
Sheepskin is the hide of the animal and includes the wool attached to the hide. In a sheepskin, the wool remains attached.
Sheep wool is the fibre sheared off the sheep and used to make various wool products. At Soul Comfort, we use a sheep wool fabric to manufacture most of our products.
What is sheep wool fabric?
The fabric used in our products is a combination of wool fibre (sheared off the sheep), a nylon grid and a medical grade acrylic liquid stabilizer. It is made using a process that takes the loose wool and ‘knits’ it into the nylon grid. Then, the acrylic is used to stabilize the wool in place and create a flat surface by which the fabric can be cut. This results in a material that has the look of a sheepskin, without the hide of the animal. As a result, the wool is machine washable.
BACKING:
* 100% Cotton Canvas (designs and colors vary - may not be as shown in the sample images)
* Rubber

General care:
Expect a small amount of shedding when the product is new as there will be some loose fibres. You can machine air fluff (no heat) for five minutes to remove excess fibres. Keep away from high heat and direct sunlight.
Over time and with more use, wool fibres will naturally bind together creating a more ‘clumped’ look. This change in the look does not affect the performance of the wool. You will still receive all of the natural and beautiful benefits. If you prefer a fluffier look, you can brush the product with a metal brush after laundering.
With care, your wool products will last many, many years.
Washing instructions:
Machine washable on delicate setting in cool/lukewarm water (up to 70°C) with a wool soap containing lanolin, such as Eucalan. Air drying is recommended. You may use a dryer WITHOUT HEAT to fluff your product. Remove from dryer before it dries completely (up to 85%). The excess moisture will not be felt and will disperse into the air quickly.
Wool is anti-microbial and will not need excessive laundering. To freshen your product, air it out by hanging outside when the air is moist, out of direct sunlight. When you bring it back inside, the wool will release the moisture into the air. This moisture redistribution results in a refreshening. If there is some staining or seepage from wounds, you can spot clean with warm water (up to 70°C) and a disinfecting soap. Do not bleach.

A sheep wool pet mat is an excellent choice for providing comfort and support for your furry friends. Made from high-quality merino wool, these mats offer numerous benefits that make them the perfect addition to your pet's sleeping area. Explore why a sheep wool pet mat is ideal for your dog or cat.
Natural Material
Sheep wool is a natural material that offers exceptional softness and cushioning. It provides a cozy and comfortable surface for your pet to rest on, ensuring a peaceful and restful sleep. Unlike synthetic materials, sheep wool is breathable, allowing air to circulate and regulating your pet's body temperature.
Resistance to Bacteria, Mold, and Fungus
One key advantage of sheep wool pet mats is their natural resistance to bacteria, mold, and fungus. This is due to the lanolin present in the wool, which acts as a protective barrier against these common pet-related issues. Choosing a sheep wool pet mat can help keep your pet's sleeping area clean and hygienic.
Machine Washable
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene is essential for your pet's bedding. Sheep wool pet mats are machine washable, making them easy to clean and maintain. Toss the mat in the washing machine, follow the care instructions, and it will come out fresh and clean, ready for your pet to enjoy.
Comfort for Joint and Muscle Support
Sheep wool pet mats support your pet's joints and muscles. The wool's soft and cushioning nature helps alleviate pressure points, reducing the risk of discomfort or pain. This is especially beneficial for older pets or those with joint issues, providing them with a comfortable and supportive resting surface.
Perfect for Dogs and Cats
Whether you have a dog or a cat, a sheep wool pet mat suits both. The natural properties of sheep wool make it an ideal choice for pets of all sizes and breeds. Your furry friend will appreciate the luxurious comfort and warmth that a sheep wool pet mat provides.
Conclusion
Choosing a sheep wool pet mat for your dog or cat offers numerous benefits. From the natural softness and cushioning to the resistance to bacteria and the ease of maintenance, these mats are designed with your pet's comfort and well-being in mind. Invest in a sheep wool pet mat today and provide your furry friend with the ultimate sleeping experience.

100% Natural
Wool is a completely natural fiber, produced year-round by over 68 million sheep in Australia. These sheep thrive on a simple diet of grass, water, fresh air, and sunshine.

Biodegradable
Once wool fibers are discarded, they naturally break down in soil within a few years, gradually returning beneficial nutrients to the ground.

Naturally Breathable
Merino wool is highly breathable, with fibers that can absorb significant amounts of moisture vapor and release it into the air through evaporation.

Wrinkle Resistant
On a microscopic scale, each Merino wool fiber acts like a tiny spring, bouncing back to its original shape after being bent. This natural elasticity helps Merino garments resist wrinkling.

100% Renewable
Australian sheep grow a new fleece annually, making wool a fully renewable natural fiber.
We love
it is the best option out there for a dog 🐩 or a cat 🐈⬛ to have their sleeping area lined with a high quality surface. We will be ordering a second mat shortly, so we can put it in our dog’s favourite sleeping areas. It looks good and seems that he prefers it over any other mats.
Rocky loved it right away. Soft and can fit anywhere.
I purchased 2 small mats, a pet bed for my senior small dog and one for me to keep my heels comfortable when I sleep on my back. My dog checked out her new mat and immediately lay down on it and slept for 2 hours. She looked so comfortable! She has chosen to sleep on it everyday since. I love my mat too. It has made a big difference in my comfort when I sleep. My heels no longer get sore at night ; I am tossing and turning less and getting a deeper sleep.
Willy will not lay on this mate.
My dog and my cat love this bed. It’s perfect.
